[net.micro.68k] RAM 256k -> 1M upgrade

tve@cernvax.UUCP (tve) (11/30/85)

I am thinking about building a small 68020 board with
nothing but CPU, some 32bit wide RAM and a high-speed link
to the outside world.

_ I intend to use 256k dynamic RAM chips but would like to
  be able to upgrade to 1M chips when they are available.
  Does anyone know if this can be done ( i.e. what is [or
  will be?] the pin-out of the 1M chips ).

_ The high-speed link is supposed to connect the 68020 to
  some PC ( amiga? ) to get I/O done ( disk, display,
  keyboard .. ). Does anyone have an idea what I could use.
  I thought a 68230 ( parallel interface 16bit bidirectional
  with handshake / 24 bit timer ) would be quite nice
  especially because of the timer I get too. Is DMA on the
  020 necessary? I have the feeling that the speed increase
  wouldn't be fantastic and that the other side anyhow
  couldn't follow.

I would be very grateful to anyone willing to waste his time
sending me his thoughts ...
