[net.micro.68k] OS/9 for the 520ST yet?

chapman@sfucmpt.uucp (John Chapman) (04/10/86)

Well the St has been out for some time now. Has anyone heard
of OS/9 implementations for it nearing completion? If microware
is on the net perhaps they could comment.

It would be ideal if it came on a cartridge so that you could boot
it up when you wanted it or just use the machine as is if you wanted
to run an existing ST program (I know you can do the same by booting
off floppies - I just like the idea of being able to plug in the OS
just like any other important computer accessory :-).

The following is my most recent set of postings to BIX. I think
it's self explanitory. ALSO: Those people involved with OS-9 development
should identify yourself to me IMMEDIATELY. There is something very
important coming up which we'll all be interested in. Please send me
your company, position, phone number, address and what your involvement
with OS-9 is.

The OS-9 68K Atari ST port will be demonstrated at Commmdex.

I have just talked to MicroTRENDS and they will be demonstrating
a number of things at this year's Comdex. The big news is that shortly
we will have OS-9 available from MicroTRENDS for most of the popular
computers. This includes The IBM-PC, the Atari ST, the Amiga, and the
Apple II anddd IIe. ALL 68000 based. There's more, but I have to post
this stuff in spirts.

MicroTRENDS also announced that they are licenced to market an
 Deluxe Software. The
datafiles for this software will be directly portable with the IBM-PC
version. This means direct compatibility between IBM-PC and OS-9
at the application level for people upgrading their IBM-PC's with
the multi-user OS-9 68000/68010 cards currently avaiillable.
