[net.micro.68k] A new System V release for the 68k from Motorola?

grob@cmcl2.UUCP (Lori S. Grob) (07/22/86)

We have System V for the 68k from ATT. Recently we have heard some
rumors that there's a new release of System V for the 68k from
Motorola. Does anyone know anything about this? If this release
exists and anyone has used it can they let me know?
What we are mostly interested in at the moment is the compilers.
We want to know if they've been fixed, improved or are exactly the
same as the previous release.

Thanks,

Lori Grob

Well I don't know if you would call it a new release, but Motorola Computer
Systems, which was the old Four-Phase company, has just released a new
VME based 68020 machine called the System 8000 which does run V/68, which
is the Motorola Microsytems port of UNIX. This port has been worked on
by both Microsystems and Computer systems and, as far as I know have done
some major work in the C compiler area. You may want to check with Brad
Holtzinger of Microsystems(..!hplabs!motsj1!bjh) for more specific
information.
