From: PADLIPSKY@USC-ISI.ARPA The msg from JSLove alluding to misbehavior in the face of large windows reminds me of the time during NCP days when those of us then at Multics discovered we could crash the TIPs by the simple expedient of sending maximum ALLocates. (Something to do with their assuming nobody would send the whole field's worth of 1-bits and only allowing about half that many bits for storing the ALL--hence overwriting some table entry with the other half, as I recall.) (Being good sports, we made our NCP halve its ALLoctions.) If something similar is happening in present, allegedly enlightened times, I'd like to see it documented for the whole list to see (but Brother Love can feel free to send it to me and leave it to my alleged discretion as to whether to pass it on to everybody if he prefers). Reminiscent cheers, map -------
