[fa.tcp-ip] gateway confusion

tcp-ip@ucbvax.ARPA (07/05/85)

From: Dennis Rockwell <drockwel@CSNET-SH.ARPA>

Folks,

If your connections to hosts on CSNET-PDN seem a bit strained this week,
here's why: the core gateways are confused about it, and will point you
in the wrong direction, then tell you that you can't get there from here.

If you are on the ARPAnet, please tell your host to get to 192.5.58 though
10.4.0.5. If not, or if you cannot change your routing tables, please
send mail through csnet-relay using either <@csnet-relay.arpa:dbj@rice.arpa>
or dbj%rice@csnet-relay.arpa (to use a prime victim as an example).

To the XNI people: please route your outgoing mail through csnet-relay for
the duration (ie, tcp-ip%nic@csnet-relay).

The gateway team is working on it, after being dragged unceremoniously out
of bed (this is a BBN holiday; I'm only here myself because of this).

PS: the really bizarre thing is that RICE-NET is perfectly reachable; both
RICE-NET and CSNET-PDN are advertised by Paul Kirton's EGP running on
CSNET-RELAY.
