[fa.tcp-ip] Ticking and tocking

mills@DCN6.ARPA (09/11/85)

Folks,

You may be bored with my continuing saga; on the other hand you may find it
hilarious. Awesome jolts due electrical storms zapped various parts of our
local-net anatomy on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday evenings, laying waste
fuzzballs, clocks, Ethernets and anything else that writhed in the Washington,
DC, area. The lesson never to rely on radio clocks in the same geographical
area deja-vued all over again, since both our WWVB and WWV clocks got
lobotomized and only the FORDnet GOES clock in Dearborn, MI, saved our
timekeeping souls, and that only after manual intervention. I once again
apologize for all those errant DCN1 timestamps our comrades use to stamp their
files, bombs and bills. If you believe a protocol similar to the one I
proposed in my recent message and document will cure what hurts, please send
comments, advice or money.

Dave
