#R:sri-unix:1000029:ihlpb:7700002: 0:243 ihlpb!nickles Jan 12 13:16:00 1983 I have just run into the same problem. Our source was cut off after 3100 (exactly) lines. I.e. the s command said "saved 3100 lines". I had to go to readnews to get the correct (unabridged) source. Ray? Jack Nickles ihlpb!nickles

#N:sri-unix:1000029:000:378 sri-unix!mclure Jan 10 13:00:00 1983 Has anyone fixed the bug of large notes not working correctly? Someone here recently noticed that trying to 's' the large tiny-C note from net.sources to a file only saves part of it. Anyone have a fix? Is it an inherent design limitation? If so, it seems to be a serious one and the major reason for keeping readnews around at all. Stuart ucbvax!menlo70!sri-unix!mclure

#R:sri-unix:1000029:pur-ee:13000015:000:529 pur-ee!malcolm Mar 12 20:57:00 1983 You're right...the 64K article limit is a design flaw with notes. The original design (13 months ago) only allowed notes to be 20 lines long and the newsinput program made the extra lines into followup notes. A few months ago, Ray said it would be very hard to change this limitation because all the notesfile databases would have to change. I guess, either way, it is not going to be easy. Maybe in the next notes release the pointers can be increased to 32 bits and we can stop worrying about this problem. Malcolm
