They all have no body and lack the apparently obligitory blank line after the author and date. The reason I noticed is that newsinput hangs forever trying to read that missing newline - while (getc() != '\n') chew_up_the_cpu_forever; All the while (...) ; statements I saw in newsinput make me nervous. We should be more defensive programmers. I'd be curious where the problem with the missing bodies lies. brian redman
