#N:uokvax:11300004:000:648 uokvax!emjej Jun 8 11:52:00 1984 I post this note here because, based on previous experience, "nfgripes" on the machine I am on appears to operationally be a black hole. Alas, I do not know what version of notes we are running here, but I do know that notes behaves as if this machine were connected to every other Usenet machine on earth, to wit: when I [Pp] a note described as from user (at bozo), I see mail bozo!user which will practically never work, because this machine (on which I am) is connected to very few other machines. I'd appreciate it greatly if [Pp] worked. (No, I don't have access to the source--for notes or for much of anything else.) James Jones

Set MAILER=<your favorite autorouter> and build yourself a database. Notes will pass mail through MAILER, you see. For example, I use mkpath and nmail (MAILER=nmail), actually nowadays pathalias and nmail, plus some other scripts for converting net.news.map into pathalias input.
