The second was "Surfer Girl" for sure -- "Little surf girl, little one,
makes my heart come all undone..." (heavy stuff, no?) The first song in
its original version starts "Grab your board and you're sitting on top of
the world..." Is this "Surfin' USA?"
The BB have been anthologized so many times that it becomes difficult to
remember which album any song originally was released on. Suffice it to
say, it probably wasn't "The Beach Boys Sing Bertold Brecht."
Trivia: who sang along with Garrison on the THC version? Answer: Pop
Wagner and Stevie Beck ("The Queen of the Autoharp") (which isn't true, if
anyone has ever heard Bonnie Phipps from Denver!
Caveat: please don't miss PHC tomorrow night (April 16), as Boulder's own
Hot Rize bluegrass band will be making their 14th or 15th appearance on the
show (along with their friends Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers).
