#N:inmet:21100004:000:502 inmet!nrh Jan 25 23:50:00 1984 I think Garrison would be amused if he knew about the little set-to we've had on the net about net.wobegon. The drive to eliminate this quiet newsgroup, the response from people otherwise too shy to talk much, the discussion sparked among the shy people, and of course, this note. I wonder what USENET looks like down by Lake Wobegon? I remember a story once about the school there getting a micro, and a six-year-old remarking that "you have to plug in the floppy" to a bunch of baffled adults.

It's obvious from the attempt to get rid of our beloved net.wobegon, and the pique of the fellow who was thwarted in the attempt, that this is a harsh world for shy people. But I suppose you know that. Which means there really is not a whole lot of point in this followup. Truth is, I never would have submitted it except the complaint is we shy people don't generate all that much traffic on the net and to some net administrator types I guess that is all that matters. But it seems to me there should be room for all types--decent, nice, God-fearing shy people like myself, and that dumb critter who figures net.flame is a vital part of the net, and net.wobegon is superfluous. But it looks as if I'm trying to make some sort of point, where really I wasn't. Matter of fact, I think I've said my 20 lines worth and ought to be moving on. -- Jeffrey Kegler, CCI Office Systems Division ...{allegra,seismo,mcnc,lime,brl-bmd}!rlgvax!jeff
