[net.wobegon] Powdermilk Biscuit Recipe

jj@rabbit.UUCP (07/02/84)

Well! The last time we went to the Pretty Good Grocery,
we couldn't find the Big Blue Box anywhere, and they were
all out of little brown bags with spots, so...

We made our own!

Combine
1 C White flour (harvested by Norwegian...)
1 C Whole wheat flour ""
1/3 C Powdered Milk (We had to use generic, but it worked ok...)
1/2 TBSP salt
2 TBSP's baking powder (D.A.)
and mix well.

Start the oven heating to 400.

Melt three tablespoons of sweet butter,
and combine with the dry ingredients. (a few lumps are ok)

Add 3/4 to 1 Cup water, until the dough reaches the right consistancy for
biscuits.

Drop with a spoon onto a greased cookie sheet, and bake for
about 15 minutes, until the edges are brown, and the rest is a
wonderful light brown...

Heavens, they're delicious!

Looks like a fine biscuit recipe, maybe even good enough to elicit that
greatest praise of all, "Heavens, they're tasty." But why grease the
cookie sheet? Biscuits should just slide right off an ungreased sheet.

"Well if your family's tried 'em,
then you know you've satisfied 'em..."

...looking forward to the anniversary show...

Cheers,

What's this about a Powdermilk Biscuit recipe??? It never made it to this
site! Could someone mail me a copy (or maybe repost it)?

Thanks!
