If net.wobegon is to become the net's repository of folk arts, here's my contribution. Pete Seeger sang this version of the classic children's song when he came through town last spring. Since he skipped a few verses, some of my friends and I filled them in, which I guess is what a folk song is all about. (I keep meaning to send him the diffs.) We've sung it at a few public gatherings since then; I'll let you figure out what kind of gatherings they were. 1: This old man He played one He came down to Washington With a knick-knack-paddywhack Give the dog a bone This old man should go back home! 2: He dumped it on me and you 3: No more school kids' lunches free 4: Now we're in El Salvador 5: Student loans did not survive 6: He did better in the flicks 7: Gonna blow us all to heaven 8: Next best thing since Watergate 9: Nic-a-ra-guan ports are mined 10: Let's get out and VOTE A-GAIN! --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- {ihnp4,harvard,seismo,gatech,ctvax}!ut-sally!riddle
