[net.wobegon] Worm song help request

nemo@rochester.UUCP (Wolfe) (04/26/85)

The "childrens' song" regularly featured on PHC a couple of weeks ago was
the one about the worms crawling in and out, etc. It was a longer version
than I learned in my impoverished childhood. Trouble is, I can't recall
the song in its entirety now (getting old, I guess). Can anyone fill in
the missing parts? (or even add some that weren't there on the show but
all the kids in your neighborhood knew)
What I recall went like this:

Do you ever think when the hearse drives by
that you may be-e the next to die?
They'll wrap you up in a big, white sheet
and bury you down about six feet deep
And all goes well for about a week
but then your coffin begins to leak....
<a couple of lines here maybe?>
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
the worms play pinochle on your snout.
They crawl in thin, they crawl out fat,
<arrghh. Long-term effects on ... on ... hmmmm)

Thanks in advance,
Nemo

Did you ever wonder when the hearse goes by
that you may be the next to die?
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
and put you under a good six feet.
It all goes well for about a week
and then the casket begins to leak.

The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
the worms play pinochle on your snout.
And while they're playing on your snout,
your hair starts looking like sauerkraut.
Your face turns ugly dirty green,
and pus comes out like whipping cream.
...[spoken] and me without my spoon!
