[net.wobegon] PHC without GK

Sad to say, last Saturday's program proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that
without Keillor, there is no show. We do not listen because of the music.
We listen because of Keillor. If Keillor goes on a trip somewhere, they
need another person who sounds like him and says what he would have said
had he been there. Hope the trip generates its own stories about America.
That will help make the gap in the series worthwhile.

I think the show had potential in the use of Howard Moore, but they didn't
and it wasn't (up to its full potential). Whatever the quality of the
musical talent last week, the show was a concert feature, and NOT what I
listen for on Saturday afternoons.

Sorry, Scott, but what may be true for you is not necessarily true for
everyone else. Although I DO miss Garrison, I listen to PHC as much for the
music as I do for the stories and I actually ENJOY it when occasionally the
show airs without Garrison (I hope I'm spelling his name right!). I, for one,
thrive on VARIETY, and an occasional non-Keillor show fits in with my
craving very well. Esp. since a non-Keillor show means a more-music show
(at least I HOPE it does).

Well, in my opinion, the second Prairie Summer Home show was an improvement
over the first, because it was more in character with a typical PHC show.
Howard Moore had a bigger part to play, and contributed some wonderful
advertisements. The show seemed more relaxed, and I listened to the whole
show, rather than tuning out portions of it.
