I am a faithful reader of net.wobegon, a newsgroup which the new scheme of things converts to something called "rec.arts.misc". This seems unfair, since, for example, "net.tv.drwho" continues to have its own (renamed) newsgroup, and even net.bizarre lives on. How about renaming "net.wobegon" to "rec.arts.wobegon" or "rec.radio.wobegon" or "rec.arts.radio.wobegon" or some such? We tend to be Shy Persons, many of us net.wobegonians, who don't like to make waves or otherwise call attention to ourselves, so you may not receive very many letters on this subject. There aren't a lot of groups where the shy are made to feel welcome, but net.wobegon is one place where we belong. It's a polite group -- we don't get the flames and inappropriate postings and insults and convtroversies that plague other newsgroups. Besides, we do have some pretty specific topics of discussion from time to time, which might get lost in the noise of a general-purpose group. Since your posting indicated that you would pass ideas along to the net.powers.that.be, please forward this to the appropriate parties. Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.
