The great race has been run, and my brother's car came in first. He decided to use a very simple design: two records (!) were used for wheels, the mousetrap hung from a sleeve about an axle connecting the wheels, and a string transferred the power from the string to the axle. In the race, the car only went 45 feet, but it was enough to win. Many thanks again to all of you who responded to my request for ideas! Laura BTL - IW
