[net.physics] planetary tunnels

The crushing pressure of granite is about 30,000 psi and its specific
gravity is 2.7. This information allows us to calculate the maximum
size of a granite planet, through which one can drill a hole. Using
my "one half rho gee ar" formula, I get an upper limit on the radius
of about 450 km. This corresponds to a g-value of .34 m/sec2.

Ceres has a radius of 370 km, so it would make a nice practical
test case for a sane, sober, and serious net.project.
