[net.physics] creationism and the Moon

    I have heard that the Moon is slowly moving away from the
Earth.  I fact, some people I know who are closet creationists
note that if the Earth-Moon system is billions of years old, than
extrapolating the Moon's outward-movement back inward means the
Moon would crash into the Earth.
    Is this true?  What is the resolution of this paradox?
