[net.physics] Not for idiots

There is a book called "The Encyclopedia of Ignorance" which is not
for idiots. The editors asked about 30 of the worlds leading scientists
in cosmology, nuclear physics, biology, and psychology to write an essay
on a topic in their field that they felt was a frontier or poorly
understood.

Here are famous scientists talking about the possible existence of a soul
and attempting to prove it. One even hypothesized that intelligence is
a natural phenomeon that spontaneously happens throughout the universe
when a certain epoch in the universe's evolution is reached!

This book is a fascinating look at the fringes of science. It is rare
to see authorities exposing their ignorance and puzzlement over the
phenomena we call "reality". The questions and answers (a few) in this
book make religion and god look like kindergarten lessons in logic.
