[net.physics] ``very cold''

I guess we all have our ideas about what constitutes ``very cold'' temperatures.
Here in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, it has gotten as cold as -18 F. in the years
I've been here (9 or 10).  Yes, you sure do have to worry about water pipes
freezing (and bursting)!

The sense I have telling you this is akin to the reverse culture shock
I felt when explaining to someone who had lived in the S.F. Bay Area that
yes, indeed, where I come from it rains sometimes in the summer.
