I'm suprised thta no one has caught on yet, but Julian Hirsch reviews the Mark Levinson ML-3 in the May Stereo review. The upshot? He LIKED it. ``If cost were no object, this is the amp that I would buy for myself.'' The ML-3 costs $5 400 and needs cables costing hundreds more. It looks like a well-built 240 lb. box, though. -- from Mole End Mark Terribile (scrape..dig) hou5d!mat ,.. .,, ,,, ..,***_*.

Please notice that in JH's test of the ML-3, he had to bypass the switchbox that he usually goes through because of the large wires and connectors. This is one of the major reasons for the improvement in the quality of the sound. The ML-3 is a great sounding amp but so are many of the others previously tested. The difference is that these previously tested amps had to be routed through the switch panel. If everyone would bypass the A/B speaker switch in their equipment and use better wires than 18 gauge zip, they'd hear things they never heard before!
