[net.physics] Inherent randomness in QM?

gjk@talcott.UUCP (Greg Kuperberg) (12/19/84)

From what I know of QM, particle interactions depend a lot on the *phase*
in the probability amplitudes. Since we cannot control the phase of the
probability clouds of our measuring devices, could this not be a source of
the so-called inherent randomness? All wave-like properties of a particle
are a result of interference/diffraction, which in turns is caused by the
phase.
