[net.physics] Colour of Neutron Stars

My initial reaction is that they are pretty good black
bodies, and consequently their colour depends on their
temperature. How you would find this out is another matter,
probably by measuring the black-body radiation! Anyone have
any ideas on the possible black-body temp of a neutron star?
(as I keep my Sci Ams at home and consequently can't refer
to them).
The business about there being no electrons around - any old
particle can emit/absorb a photon. Besides I'm sure there
would be a shield of virtual particles surrounding the
object.
