Does anyone know of a good reference to the physics of baseball
pitches (curve, etc.) ?

Brand new book out, entitled _Newton at the Bat_. (Sorry, I don't have
the editor.) It's a collection of (short) essays on physics and
sports that originally appeared in the magazine Science 80
(81,82,...).
The first couple of chapters deal with curve balls, knuckleballs,
etc., and then other sports are discusses vis-a-vis physical laws.
