References: <Bend, damn you!> A small note about secondhand stories; Randi was told of a miraculous bending during Uri's SRI tests. Apparently a metal band stood on end, split down the middle, and the two pieces formed the letter 'S'. This is the story. It couldn't be nailed down to specific witnesses, times, etc. (and this is a laboratory!?) As to fork bending, strange how it NEVER (and I mean *NEVER*) happens on camera! And now, an ESP test! (Please have an OPEN MIND, and don't try to give funny/obscure answers. Just the first thing that pops into your head) 1) pick a number from 1 to 10 2) select one of these X's: X X X X X 3) Think of a playing card. 4) Think of a foreign capital city 5) Draw two different geometrical shapes, one inside the other (Note: don't use a square, too easy!) Pardon annoying linefeeds--- Answers: 1) "five" (crossed out) then "seven" (if you picked five, a "near miss") 2) the second X from the left 3) Ace of Hearts (any other ace is a near miss) 4) Paris (crossed out), with London written under it If you thought of Paris, I'll say, "Gee, I got it, but then someone thought of London", If you thought of London, I got it! Paris is a "near miss" 5) A circle inside a triangle. If you had a triangle in a circle, a near miss! Uri Geller has ACTUALLY USED the last two!!! Please send me mail, telling me which ones I got right! I not only read your mind, I did it PRECOGNITIVELY! Again - I myself had (and may still have in storage) a series of consecutive photographs from a film taken of a fork bending in Uri's hands. The investigator brought the fork himself and both he and the cameraman saw at close range what the film shows. The fork is obviously bending and at a position away from where Geller's hand is holding the end of the fork. From the pictures I can only conclude that either the entire filming was a hoax by all involved, or that Uri indeed has bent forks in some highly unsual manner different from what Randi claims. Even though prop forks certainly could be made, I have yet to see a magician do what the pictures show. That's the problem I have with Randi and the like. They deny that forks have ever slowly bent in Uri's hands. There is something wrong here since there are people (including friends of mine) and film (at least one) which dispute that. -- Dave Trissel {ihnp4,seismo}!ut-sally!oakhill!davet
