[net.games.pbm] Common Questions in PBM AD&D game

bae@fisher.UUCP (Shiva the Destroyer) (11/26/84)

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Some have you have asked some questions of me the answers to which
I thought may be useful to all. Hence:

Q) Do you use the PH's monk class, or the Dragon's monk class?
A) Neither - I use my own hybrid system. Monks please write for details.

Q) How easy is it to switch classes for a human?
A) If you have the necessary stats in the requisites of the desired class
(i.e. >= 17 in new class, >=15 in old class), there is no problem.

Q) In view of your stated anti-racist policy, do you allow humans to be
multi-classed in the same way as non-humans?
A) No.

Q) Do you use PHB-standard MU and IL spell-lists, or do you include the
   Dragon "Official" (choke) spells?
A) The spells in the PHB are just for suggestion. You are free to devise
new spells of your own. The Dragon's 'Official' spells are not on the
   base list. Cantrips are silly.

Q) Do you use the PH bard, or the Dragon magazine Bard?
A) The PH Bard

Q) How do you handle the "archery bonus" for Dx?
A) As stated in the PH. I also give extra bow shots equal to your dexterity
   reaction/attacking adjustment.

Q) Will you be running the ability limitations on female characters?
A) No.

Q) What armour will you allow an Elven Fighter-MU to wear? Chain?
A) Plate+Shield

Q) How will you run weapon proficiencies for split class characters?
A) add proficiencies for both classes together

Q) What do you mean by 'religiously appropriate' weapons for clerics?
Will you allow clerics of certain religions to use edged weapons?
A) Yes - those who worship gods who use edged weapons. Ex: Arioch=swords,
   Apollo=Bow+Arrow, etc.  Use common sense.

Q) Explain weapons proficiencies some more
A) Example: A first level fighter gets 5 proficiencies, 4 as a base, and 1
for being in the level 1-> level 3 range. When he becomes 4th level, he
gets another proficiency to allocate as he wishes.

Q) Are mixed-class characters not explicitly listed in the PH ok?
A) Yes, use common sense. <IMPORTANT!> In addition, the restrictions
for race/class do not apply at all. Thus Dwarven Paladins, Halfling
Illusionists, and so on are permissable.

Q) Do you use the racial limitations on abilities?
A) Yes.

Q) Are material components for spells listed in the player's handbook
   required in this game?
A) Only
	1)if I am feeling nasty
	2)if they are cumbersome
	3)if they are expensive
	4)if they are rare
