> Builds: > F Liverpool > A Berlin > F St. Petersburg(NC), A Moscow, F Sevastopol > F Smyrna > Remove F Albania > A Venice, A Rome, F Naples > F Marseilles, F Brest > Spring, 1902 Moves -- > England: F liverpool-IRISH SEA, [A NORWAY-sweden], > [F NORTH SEA-english channel], [F NORWEGIAN SEA-north sea] The failure in the Channel was easily anticipated; would it not have been better to order the Norwegian Sea Fleet to the North Atlantic? > Germany: A berlin-MUNICH, A KIEL supports a berlin-munich, > A belgium-BURGUNDY, F holland-HELGOLAND BIGHT It's not going to be THAT easy to get rid of the Russian army; some French contributions (a build of A Par) would have improved Franco-German security. > Russia: F black sea-BULGARIA, F sevastopol-BLACK SEA, F SWEDEN holds, > F st. peterburg(nc)-BARENTS SEA, A moscow-ST. PETERSBURG, > A munich-RUHR, A RUMANIA supports f black sea-bulgaria Such hubris! Russia seeks conflict with England, Germany, and Turkey. Perhaps they are sufficiently occupied to let St. Petersburg continue its impressive rate of expansion, but I tend to think that a three (count 'em--three) front war is likely to explode in the Tsar's face sometime soon. Do they really believe that Italy is innocent of all Balkan ambition? > Turkey: Civil Disorder, F SMYRNA holds, F CONSTANTINOPLE holds, > [A bulgaria holds], A ANKARA holds Did the Russians sense this coming? It would go far to explain their actions. > Austria-Hun.: Permanent Civil Disorder, A SERBIA holds, A GALICIA holds Oh, well. > Italy: F tunis-TYRHENNIAN SEA, F naples-IONIAN SEA, A venice-TYROLIA, > A rome-VENICE, A vienna-BUDAPEST, > A TRIESTE supports a vienna-budapest Looking good. > France: [F BREST-english channel], A spain-GASCONY, A PORTUGAL holds, > F marseilles-SPAIN(SC), F irish sea-NORTH-ATLANTIC OCEAN F Iri -> NAt seems inferior to F Iri S F Bre -> Eng to me. Convoys to Clyde are not much more devastating than convoys to Wales; thus fleets in the Irish Sea are almost as good as ones in the North Atlantic; certainly, the difference doesn't warrant passing up the Channel. Also, the French seem to trust their friends more than it is healthy to. > Retreats: A Bulgaria disbands Summary: Italy and Russia are out front, but Italy has fewer enemies. France is more dependent on the Franco-German alliance than Germany is. Austria is out; Turkey may be. England hopes for the quick realization of the collapse of the Franco-Russo-German attack due to its internal contradictions. David Rubin
