Announcements: ========================================================

Spring 1903 orders are due by Monday, November 11, 1985 at 7pm
eastern standard time. I will at no time be more than 50 miles from
Manhattan this week, so I will not be at the mercy of a certain cheapo
budget airline to keep me away from my terminal.
Please include potential retreat orders with your moves.
By the way, congrats! You are all at war now!

News from around the world: ===========================================

WAR BREAKS OUT ACROSS NORTHERN EUROPE. WARSAW FALLEN.
In response to the English invasion of Denmark, Germany declared
war on England. Russia and England both jointly responded with declarations
of war on Germany. The war started out with massive slaughter, including
German invasions of Warsaw and the Baltic, and an English invasion of
Belgium.

FRANCE MOBILIZES, IMPOSES NEWS BLACKOUT.
While the Channel War has been quiet, France and England are still
officially at war. French movements this season seemed to be simply an
internal move to reorganize. Paris imposed a news blackout and announced
that with the new moblization of the French military, there will be no
further press releases. France's aims are unclear, since its war with
England continues officially, and it has been making efforts to remove
the Germans from Burgundy. No statement has been made on this German
invasion. Reports have it that the Germans did, however, try without
success to leave Burgundy.

ITALIANS FORCE AUSTRIANS OUT OF ITALY, TAKE FOOTHOLD IN BALKANS.
In the Adriatic War, Italy has regained Venice pushing Austrian
troops back into their home territory. Simultaneously, it has established
a significant presence in the Balkans by invading Greece and holding
neighboring Albania. This ties the Adriatic and the Balkan theatres
together far more closely though neither Italy nor Austria have made
moves to join the two conflicts into a larger war. In a counterattack,
Austria did take hold of the Adriatic Sea.

AUSTRIANS MOVE ON TURKISH POSITIONS. TURKEY LOSES POWER.
Austria had been quiet in the Balkan War for some time, and its
anti-Turkish alliance with Russia seemed in doubt, however, this season
Austria successfully invaded Bulgaria, thus decreasing Turkey's power.
Constantinople released a statement to the effect that Russia had spread
itself too thin and had lost its allies by backstabbing them, but
Turkey made no successful move on Russia. Russia did strike out along
the Turkish front, while mobilizing against Germany in the north, playing
a crucial role in the Austrian attacks.

HOLLAND FALLS TO THE GERMANS.
The last of the nonaligned nations has fallen to the German armed
forces. German troops from Belgium crossed into Holland deposing the
Government and taing up new positions along the North Sea Coast.
