Starting in 1905, the pace of the game will pick up slightly. I would like to have 3 moves every two weeks. I do not think that this will be too difficult. Things have been moving along well so far at the currently rapid rate at which we are playing. BTW, please include projected builds, adjustments, retreats, and press releases with your orders. Press releases have been slacking off lately. If I don't start getting a little more input, I'll discontinue that section of the newsletter. Most net.people who care about the game at all have been particularly interested in this section. News from around the world: =========================================== (GENEVA, Summer 1904) - Highlights of Spring 1904: 1) FRENCH NAVY DOMINATES ATLANTIC. COAST OF ENGLAND THREATENED. 2) GERMANS RETREAT FROM WARSAW. RUSSIA REPATRIATION EXPECTED. 3) RUSSIANS TAKE BLACK SEA AS TURKISH ATTEMPT TO RETAKE BULGARIA IS REPELLED WITH AUSTRIAN SUPPORT. 4) AUSTRIANS ADVANCE IN ITALY. FRENCH NAVY MOVES TO ITALIAN COAST. BATTLE OVES OVER ROME AND NAPLES EXPECTED. STATE OF RELATIONS BETWEEN FRANCE AND EITHER AUSTRIA OR ITALY IS NOT CERTAIN. 5) RUSSIANS AND ENGLISH REPEL GERMAN ATTACK ON SWEDEN. 6) UNREST REPORTED THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN ITALY, AS ITALIAN STATE SPENDS THE SPRING IN CIVIL DISORDER. News from the major European capitals was scarse in this season of drives by the four more powerful nations against the three weaker. With English and Turkish home territory threatened, and half of Italy under Austrian occupation, only Moscow released any statements. The single Russian press release is not viewed as having major significance. (quote) MOSCOW, Apr. 20, 1904. The Czar formed a solid alliance with the United States of America during last week's meetings with the U.S. President in Geneva. The Russian nobility expressed delight over the agreement, which stipulates that both nations continue arms buildups and pursue imperialist foreign policies. (end quote) Swiss authorities are not aware of any such negotiations held in Geneva in '04, and suggest that such negotiations may not be likely for as many as eighty-one-and-one-half years. If such negotiations did take place, the Russian diplomats would have had to have been smuggled across the border from Tyrolia, Austria into Switzerland. Swiss authorities are not in the habit of permitting such international trickery.
