A couple of months ago, I invented a rotisserie-like football game for the readers of net.games.pbm and net.sport.football. Well, the season has now ended and I would like to inform the rest of the net population of the success of the game. We had 11 players participating in the game. The initial draft of players was held sometime in November, although player movements were fast and furious. Every week, players were picking up and releasing players, with only minor problems caused by the slowness of net mail. It was very interesting watching the actions of the owners as they strived to fill in holes in their lineups (my main problem was the absence of a backup quarterback after Bartkowski got hurt and released; Brock and Wilson just didn't pan out). I feel that the presence of this game doubled the amount of interest that I normally would have shown in the NFL season, since I always had to watch to see how my players were doing. I would assume that my feelings would be echoed by the other players. The success of the game was mainly due to Chuck Simmons, who moderated the game from dartvax. He changed the format of the game from a seasonal performance criteria to a game-by-game criteria and succeeded in providing weekly reports so that the players could determine how their players were doing. Many thanks to Chuck. An important result of this game was that there were *no* dropouts and, in fact, a few new players after the game had already started. I feel that this fact is significant in the face of frequent dropouts in the pbm Diplomacy games being played in net.games.pbm. I would just like to end up by saying that this experiment was a success. Perhaps it can inspire others to invent other games that can be played by other net readers. -- Carlo Sgro ...![ihnp4||decvax||allegra||clyde||utzoo]!watmath!watrose!cjsgro "ihnp4 Express: Overnight to the USA or you don't pay!"
