Announcements: ========================================================

Fall 1906 orders must be date/time-stamped by Friday, January
17, 1986 at 5 pm eastern time. Results will be posted on Monday, Jan.
20. The deadline will be, however, strictly enforced. Potential
retreats, disbands, builds, and teardowns are a *MUST* as I will NOT
poll the players for these orders afterwards, but will execute default
moves. I will be away from Wednesday, 1/15 at 6 pm est until Sunday
night or Monday morning. Any units, including England and Turkey, which
do not submit new orders by the deadline will be put in civil disorder.
Also, please let me know if you have any holidays after Jan 20.
A few schools have their intersessions at the end of January.

The following are (biased) press releases sumbitted by the governments of
France, Germany, and Russia:

=====  From Paris, France =====

NEW TRI-POWER ALLIANCE
General P.A. LaFayette in a speech given today in Paris, announced the
formation of a new alliance by the Tri-Powers of France, Germany and Austria-
Hungary. It is hoped with the new economic and trade agreements that peace
and prosperity will return to central Europe. France expressed hope that the
new German Chanceler will wisely lead his country and people to achieve a new
level of wealth and freedom. General P.A. LaFayette stated that the recent
undeclared invasion of Belgium and Burgundy by German troops was the last mad
effort by the former German Emperor "Mad Ludwick" to gain control of the
world. The new German Chanceler has peacefully moved his troops out of the
French homeland, while France has recognized Germany's economic need and claim
to Belgium. The Germany Empire has proven itself to be worthy of a place in
the free democratic society of the 20th Century. With those words, France
declared that a state of peace now exists with the German Empire.

NORMANDY WARS ENDS - ENGLAND DEFEATED
The 7th Tours French Army easily defeated the last remaining British land
forces and secured the English capital of London. The French Cherboug fleet,
captured the remaining English fleet as it tried escaping from London. Later,
in a major and decisive sea battle in the North Sea, France defeated the last
ships of the once Great British fleet.
The 1st Parisian French Army moved unopposed into the northern city of
Edinburgh. The Free French forces have eliminate all English forces from the
British Isles. The last remaining British troops were left stranded by the
British North Sea fleet in Sweden. Now with no hope of returning home, the
British army is expected to surrender to German or Russian forces and request
permission to return home.

BRITISH PRIME MINISTER FLEES
It is reported that the "Der Hindenburg" made an unscheduled stop in London
on its historic test flight to the US south west. It has been rumored that
the British Prime Minister and his mistress escaped with his German friend,
Mad Ludwick.
(Editor's note: This story conflicts with Russian reports)

FRANCE PREPARES FOR LONG WAR WITH RUSSIA
The Free French Government is preparing for the forthcoming Great War with
Russia and is expecting to recall its victorious forces from the British
Isles for the war in central and northern Europe.
The Marseilles and Monaco French fleets will guard the Mediterranean Sea area
and will attempt to keep the Russian fleets from escaping from the Black Sea.

FRANCE GIVES THE POPE CONTROL OF ITALY.
In a gestured of common faith, the France government has released all control
of Italy back to the Roman Catholic church and the Pope. France will shortly
move its fleets out of Italy. France expressed hope that Austria-Hungary will
do the same, giving the entire Italian country back to the control of the
people.
(Editor's Note: Given the status quo, Italy would continue to be governed
1/3 by France and 2/3 by Austria-Hungary)

=====  From Berlin, Germany =====

In an attempt to give aid to starving Austrian civilians, the
Imperial German Army in Silesia setup food distribution outposts within
Galacia. When these unarmed good-will stations were ruthlessly attacked by
bands of russian marauders, the Chancellor was forced to order that
these stations be armed and the Silesian Army mobilized for genral police
duty in Galacia.
(Editor's note: The Russians evacuated Galicia and the Germans encountered
no resistance)

Sources here in Berlin report the Russian Army is responding to
these peaceful actions of Germany with a genral mobilization. Cancellor
Heimatstadt expressed his desire for peace, but that the Russian
mobilization was of grave concern to him. He went on to say that unless
the Russians back off, Germany will be forced to mobilize itself.

=====  From Moscow, Russia =====

MOSCOW, Jan. 13, 1906. The Czar's concern over the state of French politics
was finally justified as France move aggressively toward Russia late last
year. Expansionist France enlisted the support of other European Powers
in its plot for world domination. Leaders of the left-wing socialist "free"
French regime attempted to deflect critiques of their own political system by
calling Russia a "Red menace".
In light of the fact that Russia is the last bastion of reasonable
conservative monarchy in Europe, the French mis-nomer seems quite silly.
In fact, it is the "free" French that are the true Red Menace -- as soon
as the Russian monarchy is weakened, the French plan to force their
totalitarian communism upon the entire continent.
Having studied French and Marxism in his youth, the Czar feels
that his knowledge gives him a special responsibility to protect all Europeans
from the radicalism emanating from Paris.
The Russian leader also confirmed reports that the English Prime
Minister now resides in Moscow. The Czar welcomes the dispossesed leaders of
the continent: the King of Italy and his court are particulary welcome.
Even the Sultan, the Czar's longtime enemy, is welcome to a temporary place
in the Russian court.
(Editor's note: The last paragraph conflicts with French reports)
