       PLAYER NEWS

       Did all of you prospective players catch the classified ad?  If
   you did, then rush me your character.  The FIRST TWO to reach me will
   be entered into the campaign.  I received several characters today 1/20
   but in the interest of fairness you will have to resend them.  Remeber
   ONLY 1 PC per player.

       A word about experience points.  It hasn't been mentioned yet, but
   since many of you are about to go up a level I thought I'd tell you how
   it works.  I have all classes on the same table so everyone has an equal
   opportunity to advance at the same rate.  To find out how much x.p. you
   need to reach the next level; multiply that level by 1000 and add it to
   the base x.p. of your current level.  It's  easier to show you:

	      Level          Experience
           ===============================  
		1                0
		2               2000
		3               5000
		4               9000
		5              14,000
		6              20,000
		7              27,000
		  ...and so on...

   For those of you who started at 2nd level.  You have 2000 x.p.  I am
   keeping track of everyones experience points, but it would be wise if
   you kept a record as well. (just in case...)


       Here is a new segment of the Monday Update called "Player Mail"
   (sort of like Viewer Mail on Letterman).  I will reply to general mail
   which I receive and resend my bounced mail.

       Look for NEW IMPROVED SPELL RULES in a supplement posting.



       PLAYER MAIL

       Dove/Cory/dg:  I received your last letters. Apparently you didn't
	  receive mine.  In my letter I told you dg was welcome to run
	  Baltar (N Thief) or Buzzard (E Assassin).  As for your score...
	  Just lucky I guess.  Look for the -|=====- logo in future mail.

       John Francis:  I have had 2 VERY important letters bounce.  ihnp4
	  tells me that they cannot connect to decvax.  One of the letters
	  contained a reply to your move and the other dealt with the spell
	  system you sent in.  As you will see in the Monday Supplement, I
	  decided to adopt your spell system.  Give yourself 1500 x.p. and
	  try to fix the problem at your site.

       Scott Berry:  Satar is on Installment #4.  My mistake.  It should be
	  correct on today's posting.  This goes for Paragon as well.

       Vladimir Khait:  Coordinates on all 4 sides of the map probably WOULD
	  make it easier to locate characters and places, BUT all 80 columns
	  seem to be occupied.  I've found it quite simple to use a sheet of
	  paper to line up the X,Y coordinates.  (Tacky, but effective (:-))

       Eric Hallander:  I will be trying to use the new address you sent.  I
	  got 4 or 5 copies of your notice in Fri. - Mon. mail.  It must work!

	    I = In town           T = Training       O = Out of Commission
            E = Encounter       

	    Note:  Out of Commission refers to anything which prohibits
		   character activity other than death.  This could range
		   from unconsciousness to being paralyzed or turned to stone.

		   Combinations of the codes may be used.  If a character were
		   engaged in combat within city limits (which is against the
		   law in most cities by the way), his status would look like
		   (I,C).  Full words may also be used such as Marooned, Dead,

I would think that it would be more fair to start a waiting list
of players that wanted to join.  Then when openings become
available, post the classified as usual.  Wait a week for
responses and take the player(s) closest to the top of the list.
My machine received this article with the classified and the
article saying that the 2 openings had already been filled *on
the same day*.

You could also post the waiting list periodically so people could
make sure that their mail had reached you.
