Foreign affairs will still be managed from Vienna, but all domestic matters will be left to the local Italian government. In accordance with this policy, the emperor has ordered that elections for the Italian parliament be held in May. A great celebration was held by the Neapolitans as the Austrian 2nd fleet steamed into the Bay of Naples. A jubilant crowd pulled down the statue of General LaFayette that had been erected by the French in the main plaza of Naples. Concerned about the continuing war between Germany and Russia, the emperor appointed Baron Carl von Herzburg as a mediator to help settle the long standing hostilities. Baron von Herzburg told reporters that he intended calling upon the Czar after the spring thaw. ===== From Paris, France ===== ENGLISH SOLDIERS FINALLY RETURN HOME France in an cooperative effort with Germany, assisted in transporting the remaining English Army back to their homeland. France luxury liners provided the finest in foods, medical care and comfort to the battle tired English forces. The soldiers were greeted with promises from the Free French national and the British Colonial governments of jobs and homes in the new economy of the free Europe. TERMS OF SURRENDER OFFERED SURROUNDED RUSSIAN TROOPS French and German naval forces offered terms of surrender to surrounded Russian troops in Finland. However, Russian forces expecting relief from Moscow, rejected the terms and vowed to fight on. Allied forces in swift attack, eliminated the Russian forces, thereby eliminating all enemy forces from Northern Europe. FRENCH FORCES CAPTURE MOSCOW The 7th Tours Free French Army with support from German troops in Livonia and Warsaw, captured the Russian capital of Moscow today. Russian troops were prepared for the attack in heavy fortified positions around the city. French troops supported by the 13th "Red Dragons" Artillery Regiment, in a daring break-through operations, broke the Russian defensive lines and quickly out-manuevered the Czar's forces. The remaining Russian forces who had vowed to defend Moscow to the death, made a gallant retreat to Sevastopol. It has been rumored that the Russian Czar aand family had already left Moscow after the fall of St. Petersburg. The French Commander of the 7th Tours Army reports that the Russian government had removed all art and historical treasures from Moscow to keep them from falling into the hands of the French and Germans. TUNIS RECAPTURED The Monoca Free French naval forces in an surprize naval attack, recaptured the former French colony of Tunis after the refusal of the Austrian government to honor its former treaties with France. The Monoco naval forces were quickly joined by elements of the 1st Parisenne Army to secure the entire North African continent. French naval forces in the Mediterranean were joined by two additional Free French naval forces, the Lehavre and Calais fleets in preparation for a decisive naval battle with Austrian forces. FRENCH ARMY SECURES SOUTHERN BORDER The 3rd Parisenne Army moved into defensive positions in Marseilles supported by the 2nd Bordeaux Army to secure Frances southern border from attack by Austrian forces thru the neutral zone of Piedmont. ===== From Berlin, Germany ===== HOPES FOR PEACE DASHED AS RUSSIANS SPURN GERMAN PEACE EFFORTS The Russian peace delegation abruptly cut off peace talks with Germany calling the German proposals for a free Poland as meaningless. German negotiators were ordered to leave Moscow. Shortly thereafter the Czars secret police stormed the German Embassy, arresting all German diplomats, charging them as spies. No such actions have been taken by the German Government. Instead, Chancellor Hiematstadt ordered the 1st Berlin guard to protect the Russain Embassy from outraged German citizens. In an effort to calm down the crowds, Herr Hiematstadt made an appearence at the embassy. There he discused the Russian actions stating that he understood the Czar. "After all he is a cornered rat. This is when those diseased little beasts are at their worst. Germans don't secummb to mistreatment of civilians. We shall retaliate, but it will be against the Czar's armies not his citizens." FRENCH ALLIES WIN RACE TO MOSCOW - BURN IT The 14th Ruhr Guard in Livonia met heavy resistance, drawing Russian Cavalry replacements from the north to the fight along with the Czar's personal Moscow guard. This allowed the French allies in St. Petersburg to march easily into an undefended Moscow. Upon finding that the Czar had fled the city the outraged French General, Louise Hangem L'High ordered the citizens evacuated and the city burned to the ground. Chancellor Hiematstadt stated that he was of the opion that, this is attributed to the dreaded disease "Goldaphobia" [a fear of golden dome roofs]. The genetically inheritted Goldaphobia is prevalant among French speaking peoples and was thought to aflict Napolean. ===== From Sevastapol, Russia ===== MOSCOW, Jan. 28, 1908. The Czar went out into the field for a month-long tour of the war zone. He visited each of the Imperial Armies, with the exception of the Finland detachment, and took the Imperial Fleets on patrols into the Black Sea. While in the Balkans he paid a military visit to Emperor Franz Josef of Austria-Hungary-Italy, officially recognized the absorption of Italy into Josef's empire, and conferred with Austria military planners. Back in Moscow, the Czar requested and received a meeting with a leader of one of the other European powers. The meeting was short and pointed, and the outcome is still uncertain. Sources report that the Czar oversaw construction of a new Imperial palace in Sevastopol during his trip to the south. The palace should be complete by 1909. ===== End of press releases ===== Current Positions: ==================================================== A/H A/H Fra Fra Ger Ger Rus Rus Armies Fleets Armies Fleets Armies Fleets Armies Fleets ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ A-Ser F-Rom A-NAf F-Nwy A-Liv F-Fin A-War F-Bla A-Bud F-Nap A-Mos F-Nth A-Pru F-Swe A-Gal F-Con A-Vie F-Gre A-Bur F-StP/N A-Sil F-Ber A-Ukr A-Ven A-Mar F-Ion A-Mun F-Kie A-Sev A-Tus F-Tun F-WMd F-GOL Existing Wars Between the Powers: ===================================== BALTIC WAR - Declared Fall 1902 - Russia vs Germany.
