SQUIRES/TEDRICK DIPLOMACY: SPRING 1911 RESULTS

(Flames to tedrick@ernie.berkeley.edu)

(Notes: I got 2 sets of orders from the 2 German players.
I hope I used the right set. The other set would have
resulted in one difference, that the fleet in Kiel would
 now be in Helgoland.

Default retreats/builds may be made by GM if none included.
We have been having mail problems lately. Could someone send
a copy of these results to France please?)

News, Propaganda and Disinformation:

From Switzerland:

FRENCH TYRANNY THREATENS TO DESTROY EUROPEAN CIVILIZATION!

Through a series of brilliant operations the French Despot
has managed to place the future of European civilization
in doubt. Emperor Napolean the 10th has managed to overrun
Greece, Holland, and Sweden in a single season. Dark days
lie ahead for the free and peaceful monarchies of our
great and ancient civilization.

CZAR LIBERATES WARSAW, ATTEMPTS TO FREE ENSLAVED RUMANIA

Czar Nicolas was greeted with flowers by the wildly enthusiastc
crowds in Warsaw, as Polish citizens turned out to celebrate
their liberation by their true friends, the Russians, as
Russian cavalry entered the city.

At the same time, responding to pleas from oppressed Rumanians,
the Czar requested that his Sevastapol army attempt to aid
Rumanian partisans in an attempt to throw out the occupying
forces. The Rumanians said that "Russia is our only hope for
freedom".

Finally, in Helsinki, Russian liberators were welcomed
with open arms.

News From Paris - Spring 1911
-----------------------------

FRANCE INVADES GERMANY

Although the news blackout is still being imposed in France, it was learned
that French forces had captured the Ruhr Valley area of Germany and would
be supporting forces attacking Holland. French forces continue to battle
German forces attempting to invade Burgundy. French naval forces continue
to keep German naval forces from entering into the North Sea and access to
the open ocean.

FRANCE PREPARES FOR INVASION OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY

French naval and army forces in Italy are making preparation for an invasion
of Austria-Hungary. It was learned that repeated attempts to secure a
peaceful solution to the war with Austria-Hungary have failed and France has
decided to carry the war to the Austria homeland.

MOSCOW, Mar. 7, 1911. The Czar proposed total peace today. He pledged
to keep his own troops home until the fighting in Europe comes to an
end.

BERLIN:

HANZ HIEMATSTADT RETURNS TO OFFICE
----------------------------------
The German Chancellor Hanz Hiematstadt who had taken a leave of absence
has returned to his office. Mr. Hiematstadt decorated Gen. Von. StrauB
with the BLUE MAX, Germany's highest honor, for his heroic leadership as
Commander and Chief during the Chancellor's absence.

The reason for his leave still remains clouded in mystery. Rumors exist
to the effect that Herr Hiematstadt was working with German scientist on
a top secret weapon system code-named "TANK". It is thought that this
new weapon will be unleased on Germany's final drive to Paris.
