Our single out-going modem has died so until it gets fixed we cannot make any outgoing calls. This means that we must wait until our neighbours phone us so expect delays in receiving mail from trigraph. I notice that several neighbouring sites seem to have stopped phoning all together. If this is because you think we are dead the VAX still works, the modem doesn't. -- Bruce Freeman Trigraph Inc., Toronto, Canada utzoo!trigraph!bruce

Based on considerable experience, utzoo has a policy of occasionally polling neighbor sites even when both sides call on demand. The reason is to cope with exactly this sort of problem. (We poll trigraph daily, for example.) We consider this a wise precaution. Uucp runs itself so well under normal conditions that it's easy to assume that nothing ever goes wrong; not so. -- "Mir" means "peace", as in | Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology "the war is over; we've won". | {allegra,ihnp4,decvax,utai}!utzoo!henry
