Site "dciem" is finally back up and fully functional after 1 week without a root filesystem. Because of this long delay in bringing the system back to life, most of the news that was on dciem when it went down expired soon after we came back up. This means that, unfortunately, the sites that we feed have lost about 7 or 8 days worth of news (more for those sites that were far behind in picking-up/accepting their news.) For those sites whom we call - good news. Our ACU is now back in service. As it turns out, it was never damaged - another board on the UNIBUS was dragging other devices down with it. Tim Pointing, DCIEM dciem!tim P.S. remember to be careful when fsck'ing the root filesystem... "fsck -t tempfile /dev/rroot" looks very much like "fsck -ttempfile /dev/rroot" but behaves VERY differently!! I didn't type it but that's what happened. The fact that we were almost unable to use our backup tapes didn't help us come back to life! I'm glad that we'll be pitching the 11/70 in the next 6 months or so. -- Tim Pointing, DCIEM {decvax|ihnp4|watmath}!utzoo!dciem!tim or uw-beaver!utcsri!dciem!tim or uunet!mnetor!dciem!tim or dciem!tim@zorac.arpa
