Two days ago I posted a message saying syntron was dead from no power. Well power has been restored and the problem identified. Our problem turned out to be an emergency kill switch mounted outside the computer room. This switch controls the relay suppling power to everything in the computer room. During the repairs, the electician performed an autopsy on the switch and we discovered that the switch had been damaged during installation and the power surge which occurred early Saturday morning blew the contacts from the switch resulting in an open control relay. While I doubt that many of you out there have similar switches, I suggest to those of you who do that you make a point of periodically checking your switch for damage. Even the cost of having a electrician in for half-an-hour every six months or so is a lost cheaper than being off the air and having your users screaming for service. -- G.
