Persons sending mail to and from the Toronto area, note: utai, one of the
major mail relays hereabouts, is having troubles. It just changed hardware
and its serial ports, in particular, are not functioning well. This does
not affect its high-speed network hookups, so it may seem to be running
normally, but some of its connections (e.g. to utzoo) are still serial.
The problem may not get fixed for another week or so, because the people
who run it are mostly away.
It's hard to suggest a general workaround, because I don't know the details
of utai's serial connections. For the specific case of going between utai
and utzoo, the route utai-utgpu-utzoo ought to work. (Cross your fingers
that so-called "smart" mailers won't shorten it... Ours won't, but I can't
speak for some of the others around here.)
