[net.wines] What about "82 Bordeaux

thomux@abnjh.UUCP (07/12/83)

My sources, including WINE Magazine and Frank Prial of the New York Times,
support the positive news you reported on the '82 vintage, rather than the
negative.

The '82 futures prices I have seen are sufficiently attractive (lower than
I paid for '78 and '79 futures) that I would definitely get in for at least
a case.

On the '81 and '82 burgundies (assuming red) I have not heard anything
conclusive other than they are considered not as big or long-lived as~r
the '76 vintage.

The '82 futures prices I have seen are excellent--substantially lower than
what I paid for '78 and '79, for example. The fact that the harvest was
particularly large might argue for waiting until the wine hits the shelf,
however, the futures prices are good enough that I would get in for at least
a case.

On '81 and '82 burgundies, I haven't heard anything conclusive other than the
fact that they are lesser wines than the '76 vintagered, that is).
