I asked the kind lady there to recommend a fairly good yet inexpensive wine, and she directed me to the rack where the Zinfandels were stored. She suggested a Sutter Home Zinfandel (1980, Amador County), so I took her up on it. I paid the meager $5.84 (after tax) and carted the bottle up to my dorm room full of great expectations. Popping the cork, I caught a whiff of rather earthy origins, and my interest was piqued. Ig- noring the recommendation to let it breathe for about an hour, I poured myself a small glass and had a sip. GASP!!! Ok, now I was coming up with all sorts of mean things to do to the lady who sold me that garbage. But after about 45 minutes, I tried it again; my taste was definitely satisfied by the marked improvement. My vote on this wine has definitely got to be "go for it" -- anyone else want to support/argue this wine? Brad Southers duke!uok!bsouther
