I thought that the '83 was pretty pleasant, and definitely enjoyed it more than the '82. However, neither compares to the '80, as I recall (maybe it was the 81, but I think it was 80). It was the first white zin I had ever tasted, and it was great. Apparently Sutter Home made VERY little of it, and even in Northern California it was impossible to buy unless you grabbed some the first couple months after it was released (or you went to directly to S.H.). After 81 or so, though, it got more popular and they started making quite a bit more, so that it's even very easy to find here in Illinois. In my opinion, along with others that I've spoken to, it hasn't been quite as good ever since they've increased their production. I believe it has something to do with where they're getting the grapes now. At any rate, it still is a very nice wine and I'd recommend it to anyone that hasn't yet tried it. By the way, Sutter Home has some other very good wines as well, most notably a Muscat Amabile that I remember tasting when I was at the winery a few years ago, but have never seen anywhere except there and at one store in Carmel. The only wines I've seen in stores otherwise are the white zin and their red zin... Vic Mitnick ATT-Bell Laboratories ihuxk!vhm55611
