[net.wines] Robert Mondavi Napa Gamay

beth@dual.UUCP (Beth Sumner) (04/20/84)

Has anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area ever run across Robert Mondavi
Napa Gamay, (I think it was a 1980). had it at an AT&T conference in
San Diego, Jan 1983 and have never been able to find it since. At this
point I'm not even sure if I should have been impressed, but would like to
find some to check it out.

Thanks in Advance

Many Robert Mondavi wines seem to have very limited distributions. I went
tasting at their winery once (living in the Bay Area has some significant
advantages *heh-heh*) and tried a wine called 'Muscato D'oro'. It was a 4%
alcohol sweet desert wine made from the muscatel grape. Being excessively
impressed, I immediately went looking for it in the local wine shops. No
luck. If it isn't a major wine, it seems to be hard to find. Of course, if
I'm willing to drive a couple of hours, I'm sure I can pick up a few
bottles....

And to think there are areas of the country that not only don't have local
wineries, but spend a good part of the year covered in snow!
