----- Apologies in advance if you have read this msg before. Message was erroneously sent to net. wine rather than net.wines----- Hmmmmm....it's beginning to look like net.wine should be relabeled net.beer. Anyway, it's nice to know that others know about weissbier. If you happen to be in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (about an hour by train from Munich), stop at Clausing's Posthotel where the Berliner weiss was originated several hundred years ago. (Berliner weiss = weissbier + splash of rasperry juice/liquer..... sound awful, but it's wunderbar) Anyhow, back to wine. Does anyone have any recent experience with Simi Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 1974? I had expected it to hold through this decade but it seems like it may already be at or past its peak now. Also, has anyone sampled Beaulieu V. George LaTour Private Reserve 1979 which was just released last month? Also, several people have told me that Washington, D.C., is the least expensive location in the country to purchase wines, supposedly because retail owners can purchase wine direct bypassing any wholesalers and there is no sales tax. If so, does anyone have any suggestions of Washington wineshops with good selections/good prices? Thanks in advance. =-Sue Jones-= Microelectronics Center of N. Carolina sjones.mcnc@csnet-relay
