Jordan Cabs are simply some of the most delightful Cabernet drinking to be found. They have the ability to be enjoyed when they are released, but definately improve with age. The '76 and '77 are in their primes now, but the '77 will improve with a few more years of proper cellaring. The '78 and '79 will not be in their primes for several years. When Jordan first came out, much effort was spent on getting name recognition. As a result of this successful campaign, the small number of cases that do reach the retail shelves quickly disappear. Some California wine observers tend to rank Jordan lower than some of the power Cabs such as Heitz, but for just plain drinking pleasure, the Jordan is hard to beat. It is almost always released at $14-$16 and is at $24 within 1-2 years. It goes especially well with pasta dishes as do most Cabernets. Inside California the most recent release is usually obtainable for quite some time after its introduction. Those in other states are probably not as fortunate... tom rogers
