[net.wines] Now that the Beajolais have been tasted

randy@utcsri.UUCP (Randall S. Becker) (12/07/85)

I am interested in obtaining opinions on this years vintage grape juice.
If anyone is interested in sending their opinions of the various Beajolais
Nouveau available could you I will be glad to post a summary of the results
of peoples preferences. Please don't send me your opinions of the idea of
the Nouveaus in general, unless it's particularly witty.

(I promise to post results, if I receive any, so you don't have to post
your opinions to the world. LET ME DO IT FOR YOU :-) ).

Just to start the wine swirling,

I found this years vintage to have more (let me search for the word
... ) zest? body? than any of the last 5 years (I hear rumours that
it's been the fourth best of the century, but..). You've got to find
a good one, though. There's lots of bad grape juice out there.

To avoid - Colomb-Marechal (of course one of the two carried by the
Ontario Liquor Board [one of the great authorities on bad wine])

Not to miss - Maison Dufouleur (available in your favourite Quebec
outlet). By far the best one I've tasted.

Pretty Good - Chateau DuBoufe (sp?) (private import in Canada)

Curiously, the Ontario Gamay Beaujolais stood up reasonably well
against the French Beaujolais that the Ontario L.B. brought in
(small wonder!). Apparently, It's a good year for Ontario wines.
They may have even gotten it right this time!

Cheers,

	Randy.
