Ok, here's my "sit-in-the-'fridge" wine (if you can call it that --
as you will no doubt surmise, my tastes don't run very expensive):
I like to buy a bottle of Riunite Lambrusco for those late-night
attacks of "gee, I'd like a glass of wine right now..." I also have
been known to keep a bottle of Canei (sp?) on hand, but I finally
broke the habit of keeping Taylor Port within reach. Like I said,
I have a very inexpensive (uneducated?) taste in wines.....but as
an out-of-work college student, who can afford tastes??

p.s.: have you cleaned out the 'fridge, yet?

Bad news - anyone within reach of Point Beer is also in reach
of White Castle Hamburgers. I am not in reach of either, since
I have no car. Sorry. I love Point Beer, too.

I'm with bbncca!rebbs -- the LA times beer tasting panel must inhabit
a different inertial frame than mine; anybody who rates Schlitz better
than Ballantine IPA or Grolsch has strange tastes.

Also, in wine tastings it is customary not to rate wines that have
obviously spoiled in the bottle. The LA times panel seems not to have
such compunctions and rated the spoiled beers "standard."

By the way, here in Boston you can now get Rolling Rock in the
traditional long-neck refillables with a horse on the bottle for ten
bucks a case. Don't miss it.

Sutter Home's white zinfandel is very nice, though not as good
this year as the last severl. But then, I like zinfandel very
much....

As far as I know is it allowed to German brewers, to export
beer with additives. But here in Germany it is forbidden
to deliver beer with additives. (Reinheitsgebot!)
But you can brew beer without alcohol and sell it here.
(One of this is called 'Sanwald Pro').
One reason for this Reinheitsgebot here in Germany is
that we like to drink beer instead of chemical ot other
additives. I hope for the future that this Reinheitsgebot
would be appreciated in the whole world.
What's your opinion about that?

For wine in Chicago, go to Louis Gluntz on North Wells. I've bouught many
wimes there and never have been disappointed. There's no wine merchant anywhere
in Dallas that's anywhere close to Gluntz for quality or competance of the
employees.
