[net.gdead] Garcia Band and Bobby and the Midnites in New Haven

lotto (06/19/82)

First of all, I've never seen anything in this newsgroup, but I don't
think it that far fetched that it is about the Grateful Dead.

I just saw the combined Jerry Garcia Band/Bobby and the Midnites show
at the New Haven Coliseum two nights ago. Overall, the show is great.
Bobby and his band came on for two hours, and were very mainstream.
The Jerry came on, and the show picked up. He had Kreutzman on the
drums and Merle Saunders on the keyboards. The music was excellent,
and Jerry's solos were true to form. After an hour and three-quarters,
he finished up, saying that he'd be back in a moment or two. By this
time, it was already one in the morning. When he came back, he was with
Bobby and they did two songs as a combined band ("Women Are Smarter and
"Deal). Finished at 1:30am, after 4 1/2 hours of music. Highly
recommended to all.
