[net.rumor] When is System VI coming out?

earlw@pesnta.UUCP (Earl Wallace) (08/31/83)

I was informed that System VI UNIX is on the horizon and will be so
"user-friendly" that anyone can install it. Can anyone shed light
     on this topic?

Once there's a System VI, we'll REALLY confuse the people who
don't know the difference between Version 6 and System VI.
(I understand Versions 6 and 7 are now officially System I.6
and I.7. This sure wasn't the original idea, though. Why not
just go to Version 8 and beyond?)

But there is a Version 8 that exists internally at Bell Labs
and is used by some of the research people....
