At 70% off list price in Nov. 83 if they would sign before the end of the year. Now goverment types are not very good at moving fast. Seems at one point IBM wrote them a snotty letter, something about evil procurement practices. Well they bought em, and students in the state schools can get em for 1,550$ with dual processors z80/8088, 128K, bit mapped graphic board, two disk drives platters, monitor, system box, key board, three o/s (cpm/80, cpm/86, and ms/dos). The first ones appear in peoples hands the first week in jan., last weekend's Boston globe had a ad to sell a similar sounding system for 2.5K with a Conn. phone number. I don't know if they bought them all at once or in stages, at least some of them were bought before the year ended, good for Dec's balance sheet I guess.
